Hello cool cats!
After a really long hiatus (I think it’s been three months…blame exams and life), I finally have some free time! I am currently working on some new content for the blog and will even begin filming a few things soon. Wish me luck!
Today I will be reviewing and comparing Kat Von D’s Everlasting liquid lipstick in Outlaw to two Velour Liquid Lipsticks by Jeffree Star in the shades Unicorn Blood and Celebrity Skin.
The two liquid lipstick brands have been pitted against each other, both with different characteristics, positive and negative. I will share my honest opinions about the two.
I first laid my hands on Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick. I was drawn to the shade ”Outlaw” because it looks like the perfect red (I was inspired by the Blank Space music video a la Taylor Swift).
I was mystified by the colour. It’s a nice, rich, and bold red. The colour really stands out and happens to compliment warm skin.
The texture looks great but does not feel great. While the substance goes on wet, it really dries out the lips and the texture becomes patchy after some time. The formula itself does last for a long time but not without touching it up. You have to completely reapply it because the patchyness does not apply for a smooth re-application. It does transfer a bit but it’s not that can’t be stopped with some translucent powder. Overall, if you’re going to go for this lippie you will have to be prepared to compromise.
Let me tell you it wasn’t easy! The infamous lippies are almost impossible to obtain because of how popular they are, and they are usually sold out. As mentioned above, I purchased the product in shades in ”Celebrity Skin” and ”Unicorn Blood”
And I’m not gonna lie, I might be a little bit biased towards these ones just because I absolutely love Jeffree Star’s makeup. There was so much hype surrounding these lippies so my interest was peaked. I was a little skeptical at first because I’m not one to buy into the hype until I’ve tried it out for myself.
Unlike the Kat Von D liquid lipstick the formula of this one is much more reliable. It does not dry out your lips, but it does make it a bit sticky. On the other hand it does not transfer. YES LADIES AND GENTS, IT DOES NOT TRANSFER. It is a miracle I tell you. The product itself does stay for a long time (I think I had it on for 10 hours) and the texture looks divine (not at all dry feeling).
The colours are also brilliant and my photos don’t do them justice! Unicorn Blood truly looks like the blood of your enemies and Celebrity Skin is a perfect nude (Very Kim K ish).
Well, my verdict is that the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks are a much better experience in terms of wearibility and aesthetic, plus the colours look incredible!
Although, I do love the colours of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, the patchyness get really annoying after a few hours. In any case, my experience with liquid lipsticks has taught me to always do a lipscrub beforehand and moisturize your lips if you want a great result.
Let me know your thoughts. Also, I’m thinking of creating a channel on YouTube. I would love to do an introduction video about myself to start the channel off. If you have any fun questions or suggestions I would love to hear them!
